Ubiquiti Unifi Hosted Unifi Controller

Note: This guide is only for services running on a hosted cloud controller within a remote data centre or cloud service such as Amazon AWS.

We recommend upgrading your controller to the latest version. Unifi Network Controller 8.12.x is required as a minimum for the following configuration to work correctly.

First login to your Unifi Network controller you should see the following screen when accessing your controller URL on port 8443

On logging into your controller select the site you would like to configure:

Now click the site configuration icon shown at the bottom left of the screen as show below:

On the setting screen click on the Wireless Network menu option and click the Create New Wireless Network button

Now we will configure the SSID for the new network: 

Name/SSID: Captini (or venue name)

Enabled: Tick the enable checkbox

Security: Select Open

Guest Policy: Tick apply guest policies checkbox

Next click the Guest Control menu option and follow the configuration setting below: 

Guest Portal:    Tick enable Guest portal 

Authentication:  External portal server

Custom Portal:  IPv4 Address: Enter IP: 52.17.32.122

Redirection:       Tick use secure portal

  Tick Redirection using hostname enter in box: https://ubnt-eu.captini.net

  Tick Enable HTTPS Redirection

Access Control: 

Add the following entries by clicking on the plus sign:

api.captini.net
cdn.captini.net
captini.com

s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com

To save changes click the Apply Changes button.

Finally we need to add an admin account to allow the Captini API to authenticate users on the Unifi controller. Click the Admins menu option and then click the Add New Admin button.

Next create a new account with the following details:

Invite to Controller: Manually set and share the password

Name: CaptiniAPI

Password: **Request from Captini**

Role: Administrator 

Click on the Create button to add the new account.
