Testing the WiFi Service

When setting up the service for a newly created customer venue or swapping out existing equipment, it is important to test the service is fully functional at both the time of setup and when you install the hardware on-site at the venue.

In order to be able to test the service, you may want to test the service as a new customer. To complete a full test cycle you have to complete the following process:

1) Delete the device from the venue/service

2) Force logout of your device from the hotspot by typing the following link into your address bar (please note that this is the same logout link for all Captini SmartHardware)    http://smartswitch.captini.com/logout

The following instructions detail the steps required:

Step 1: Deleting your device

As shown below all of your customer accounts are listed and are fully searchable making it easy to find a specific customer. You have two controls available, clicking  Delete will permanently delete a customer, their venues and all customer data collected in the Captini dashboard. Clicking on Dashboard switches you into the specific customer dashboard without the need to enter the customer's username and password.

Clicking on the green Company Name link of customer allows you to view the details of the specific customer account. As shown below the popup box displays the key details relating to the customer account. In addition, a QR code is available for use with dual authentication. Dual authentication is an additional security option that is linked to the username and password which requires the customer to use the Google authenticator app to login.

As a default, dual authentication is disabled and can be enabled by simply selecting enable from the dropdown menu and then downloading the Authenticator app and then scanning the QR code listed.

In addition an individual customer account can be locked by selecting Suspend from Account Status dropdown menu. This will prevent the customer from logging in to their dashboard.

Clicking on the Manage WiFi Users and Devices display a list of all devices that have used the WiFi service relating to the customer's account. As shown below a device can be deleted from the customer account by clicking on the relevant delete button. Should a device that has been deleted re-use the WiFi service in the future they will be prompted to sign-in using the form or social media to register the device.

Step 2: Force logout your device from the hotspot

Instead of rebooting your device each time you want to de-authenticate your device from the hotspot or waiting for the hotspot to timeout your device. There is a special hidden URL you can use to force logout your device.

Special URL

http://smartswitch.captini.com/logout

This URL will work for both SmartSwitches and SmartAP's. On entering the above URL in your browser your device will be instantly de-authorised on the hotspot service and you will see the following screen:

If you have completed Step 1 above, when you click on the log in button, your device will be redirected and presented with the Social login screen as if you are a first time user.
